Petition to Federal Authorities: Secure Illinois From Sanctuary-State Negligence
To: President Donald J. Trump, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the United States Congress The people of Illinois are living under an imminent and escalating threat to our safety, our families, and our future — not from abroad, but from the willful neglect and dangerous policies of our own state and local leadership. Under Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Illinois has become a de facto sanctuary jurisdiction where federal immigration law is openly defied, violent offenders are released back onto our streets, and the safety of law-abiding citizens is treated as an afterthought. Sanctuary policies that shield criminal non-citizens from federal enforcement have directly contributed to rising crime, collapsing public trust, and a sense of abandonment in neighborhoods across Chicago and the collar counties. This is not a question of immigration. It is a question of lawlessness. The vast majority of immigrants in Illinois are hardworking, law-abiding people seeking a better life. But when state and local officials refuse to cooperate with federal authorities — and actively obstruct the enforcement of federal law — the consequences fall hardest on the very communities they claim to protect. Children cannot walk to school safely. Small businesses shutter. Working families are priced out and pushed out, while billions in taxpayer resources are redirected to a crisis our leaders helped create and now refuse to solve. We the undersigned therefore call on the federal government to take immediate, decisive action to secure the state of Illinois: Direct the Department of Homeland Security and ICE to increase federal enforcement presence in jurisdictions where state and local officials refuse to cooperate, ensuring that criminal non-citizens are identified, detained, and removed in accordance with federal law. Condition federal funding on compliance with federal immigration law , holding sanctuary jurisdictions accountable for the policies that endanger their own residents and refusing to subsidize lawlessness with taxpayer dollars. Investigate the obstruction of federal enforcement by Governor Pritzker's administration and Mayor Johnson's office, and pursue any legal remedies available to restore the rule of law in Illinois. Expand coordination with local law enforcement who wish to cooperate with federal authorities but are currently prohibited or punished for doing so by state sanctuary mandates. Deploy every lawful federal resource available to protect the residents of Illinois — citizens and legal residents alike — from the violence and instability that sanctuary negligence has enabled. Illinois deserves leaders who put the safety of their people ahead of political signaling. Until our governor and our mayor are willing to do so, we ask the federal government to step in and do the job they will not. Sign this petition to demand federal action to secure Illinois. Every signature will be delivered to President Trump, the Department of Homeland Security, ICE, and the United States Congress as proof that the people of Illinois will no longer accept neglect dressed up as compassion. Sign the Petition: Demand a Safe Streets & Strong Families Action Plan
Chicago families should not have to wait for another violent teen takeover before leaders act. We are calling on the City of Chicago, the Chicago Police Department, Chicago Public Schools, the Chicago Park District, CTA leadership, Cook County officials, and the State of Illinois to adopt a coordinated Safe Streets & Strong Families Action Plan before the next major holiday weekend. We demand: A rapid-response plan for teen takeover hotspots The City must identify high-risk downtown, park, beach, transit, and commercial areas and deploy coordinated public safety plans before events spiral out of control. Real parental notification and accountability Parents or guardians of minors repeatedly involved in curfew violations, violent gatherings, property damage, or organized disorder should be notified, required to participate in intervention meetings, and held accountable when appropriate. Stronger coordination between schools, police, parks, and transit leaders Chicago Public Schools, CPD, the Park District, CTA, and local agencies should share information, coordinate prevention plans, and respond quickly when large youth gatherings create public safety risks. Youth intervention that proves results Public dollars for youth programming should be tied to measurable outcomes, including reduced repeat offenses, improved school attendance, job placement, mentorship participation, and violence prevention. Support for law enforcement and safe diversion Police must have the tools to protect public spaces, disperse dangerous crowds, and respond quickly—while first-time and low-level youth offenders should be directed into structured accountability, mentorship, community service, and family intervention. This is not about demonizing young people. It is about protecting families, restoring order, supporting responsible parents, and giving teenagers better options than chaos. Add your name today and demand action from city and state leaders: Safe streets. Strong families. Real accountability.
